R&M Plant Procurement is a wholesale plant procurement company, trucking company and licensed nursery serving Washington and Oregon. We work with landscapers, landscape architects, contractors and landscape designers to grow, source and deliver the highest quality plant materials for high-end residential and commercial projects. By managing the plant material and every process attached to it, we solve complex sourcing and logistics problems so our clients can focus on the rest of the design-build process. Our nursery and office are located in Salem, Oregon.

Our origins

Salem sits in the middle of one of the densest nursery regions in the country — most of what we source is within an afternoon's drive.

R&M was founded in 2004 after Rachel Ralstin's dear friend and landscape designer Tina Miller identified a gap in the market between wholesale plant availability, location and job-site installation. R&M was created to be the liaison of a designer throughout the procurement process.

Then and now, industry professionals need more than someone who can locate some of their plants and deliver them in various stages with inconsistent identification and subpar organization. They need a company that can source or grow all of the material and not substitute it, verify the accuracy of identification, inspect it, control the quality throughout the entire process, coordinate pickups and deliveries, communicate with clients, be professional and use discretion — with an end result of high-quality, labeled, clean, organized and complete material lists delivered on time with zero product damage.

For over two decades, R&M has served the nursery and landscape industry with that same commitment to quality and communication.

Rachel Ralstin

Owner & Lead Horticulturist

Thirty years in the Oregon nursery industry — and she still walks the rows.

Rachel Ralstin is the owner and lead horticulturist at R&M, as well as a dedicated plant collector. Her background of 30+ years in the industry includes every aspect of nursery management, sales, production, inventory, grading, growing, quality control, market pricing and plant valuation. Before founding R&M, she worked her entire life in the nursery industry in Oregon.

Rachel has a passion for God, His people, His earth, ethical business practices, healthy plant material, healthy landscapes, responsible growing, plant identification, our native habitats, pollinators and the ecosystems supported by good horticulture.

Our team

R&M's small and specialized team — family and dear friends — has built its depth of knowledge through years of hands-on work with nursery stock.

Team members inspect, label, organize, care for, load, transport and deliver tens of thousands of plants each year. Every order is reviewed before delivery to confirm the plants and the quantities are correct, properly labeled, weed-free and of number-one grade, ready for installation at the job site.

R&M remains intentionally small to this day while accomplishing big feats. It's a conscious decision to work for the clients who value the service we provide, and to not expand into areas that compete with our clients or take away from their scope of work.

It's a conscious decision to be hands-on with every blade of grass and every tree that grows here and goes to you. We aim to keep our schedule full but not overloaded, so each order receives the individualized care it requires — and so we never take on work that fills the calendar but doesn't honor the integrity found in high-quality, sustainable and ethical material.
